Experience / Galleries, Theatres & Museums / Toowoomba Art Society

Originally established in 1925, the Toowoomba Art Society has been a pivotal organisation for the development of art, teaching of varied techniques and methods and the fostering of community amongst local artists ever since.

Located in purpose built premises at 1 Godsall Street, Toowoomba (the last house overlooking Queens Park and the Botanic Gardens), their building includes two studios for groups, classes and workshops as well as Culliford Gallery (the hanging space in Studio One) which is unique as it is a working studio and gallery in one.

New exhibitions are showing every month from February to December and opening hours are 9am to 12noon Tuesday to Friday and  10 – 2pm Saturday and Sunday.

Toowoomba Art Society currently offers a range of classes, some taught, others more socially oriented, occasional bus trips to galleries, regular Friday night exhibition openings, talks and functions. Other community groups such as U3A use the facilities which can be hired by affiliated groups, and the reinvigorated gallery is available by application for exhibitions by individual and group members. Major annual fixtures are the Members’ Exhibition at Carnival of Flowers time, and the mid-year Toowoomba Art Society/Chronicle Junior Art Expo at Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery.
