Allora has an unexpected history that is celebrated throughout the town with a Heritage Trail, themed street banners, a series of murals at the gates of the showground, one of only two Boer War memorials in Queensland, and the Drayton Street and the Forde and Warwick Street Museums. The town was the childhood home of P.L. Travers, creator of Mary Poppins.
