Mac Stirling – Property Developer and Sports Architect; Sport and Recreation Consultant

John (Mac) Stirling has 30 years of experience as a sports architect. He is well qualified in the areas of master planning, design and documentation, and in the administration of sport and recreation facilities and public assembly buildings. Today Mac specialises in property development in the Toowoomba region.

Mac understands the successful strategic planning of sporting facilities, and draws on his expertise to recommend the ideal model of design, operation and management to clients in both Australia and New Zealand. He has in fact, designed over 30 indoor sports and events centres in these two countries over a 25-year period.

His portfolio as a leading sports architect includes Suncorp Stadium at Lang Park, a $300m redevelopment project, which is recognised worldwide as one of the world’s best rectangular stadiums. (JV with HOK Sport + PDT Architects, 2003.)

One of the buildings Mac designed as Director of PDT Architects, the UQ Centre, was the venue where former US President, Barack Obama, delivered his landmark speech on climate change at the G20 summit.

Mac is also responsible for the spectacular First Coat Eagle image at the Highfields Village Shopping Centre.

Mac is now a Property Developer in the Toowoomba region.
