This family-run winery in the South Burnett has come up with a unique point of difference in its range of wine ice-cream. Produced by acclaimed Brisbane ice-cream makers, Lick, using Kingsley Estate wines, the sweet treats have become a hit both from the cellar door and at events off-site.
The range includes ‘Fat Fox’ fortified wine and dark chocolate; merlot and vanilla bean; verdelho and lemon sorbet; and shiraz with raisin. “The response has been huge – they go like hotcakes at festivals,” says Joanne Berry, whose husband Simon is the winemaker.
It was his parents, Mike and Patricia, who planted the vineyard back in the late 1990s. Simon and Jo call their cellar door a “winery door’ as visitors do their tasting right where all the action is.
