The annual Historic Leyburn Sprints began in 1996, and is held every August.
First run to commemorate the 1949 Australian Grand Prix held on a disused WWII airstrip just outside of the township, the event has now been running for over 20 years. Spectators can witness 200 cars racing the clock around the streets of historic Leyburn. Aside from the action on the track, attendees can also enjoy the Vintage Caravan Competition, Shannon’s Show ‘n’ Shine, stunt motorbike performers, country markets, live bands and much more!
There is camping available at the recreation reserve.
