The weather is warming up and our Toowoomba parks are blooming so what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than a family picnic in the park.

Toowoomba is of course known as the garden city for a reason; we have an abundance of beautiful parks and gardens perfect for family picnics. Here are three of our favourite parks which we know the whole family will love.

Queens Park, Toowoomba

Covering almost 25 hectares, Queens Park is a green oasis amongst the hustle and bustle of the Toowoomba CBD. In Spring and Summer the garden beds are brimming with colourful flowers and the giant trees provide year-round shade. The kids will entertain themselves all afternoon on the play equipment whilst you sit back, relax and enjoy precious family time. You will find plenty of undercover picnic tables and barbequing facilities so you can cook up a scrumptious barbeque lunch.

Picnic Point, Toowoomba

Perched on the high crest of the Great Diving Range, Picnic Point boasts spectacular views across the Darling Downs and Lockyer Valley. When you drive in you’ll be greeted by the impressive hoop pine trees which create a shady canopy and the perfect spot to roll out your picnic blanket. Treat the kids to an ice-cream or pick yourself up a takeaway coffee from the café. With picnic tables and barbequing facilities, we know you family day-out at Picnic Point will be nothing but a hit.

Japanese Gardens, Toowoomba

Toowoomba certainly is lucky to have one of Australia’s largest Japanese Gardens nestled amongst our region. Roam the four acres of gardens and you will stumble upon waterfalls, cherry blossom trees, bamboo avenues, a tea house, Azalea Hill and numerous conifer plantings. You may even spot some local wildlife as the gardens are centered around a lake which is home to ducks, turtles and fish. The Japanese Gardens look beautiful in every season and we know with so many tranquil parts of this park you will have trouble deciding where to roll out your picnic blanket.
